On blogs and sites like etsy.com I’ve seen a lot of burlap wreaths I liked – I was going to order one but couldn’t find one for sale that was exactly what I wanted so I thought, how hard can this be? Headed to the craft store and bought a foam wreath, burlap ribbon, and some felt. Wrapping the wreath was pretty easy. The felt flowers were not as easy as I thought they would be – give me some fondant and I could whip these flowers out. I found a few YouTube tutorials and they turned out ok. The banner is just paper with the letters stamped on it.
DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath
Materials needed:
- straw wreath form
- burlap ribbon
- red, pink, and green felt
- red/white baker’s twine
- card stock
- letter stamps and ink
- hot glue gun
- ribbon
Step one: Wrap the wreath form with burlap ribbon. Use hot glue gun to attach the ends of the burlap to the wreath.
Step two: Make felt ribbon roses in a variety of pinks and red with the felt. Cut a few green leaves. Hot glue to the wreath
Step three: Cut paper triangles out from the cardstock the paper bunting. Using rubber stamps, stamp LOVE with one letter on each flag. Punch small holes in each flag and string the baker’s twine through the flags. Attach the banner to the wreath with hot glue
Step four: Cut a piece of ribbon long enough to create a hanger for your wreath. Loop and knot.
And there you go! Hang on your door to enjoy. My front door is protected with a large patio but if your door is not protected from the weather, hang inside on your door or a window (I often hang wreaths in my kitchen on the window over my sink)
