I LOVE all those gorgeous gift wrapping stations so popular on Pinterest. However, I don’t have space in my craft room for one of these wrap stations. I’ve also seen them in garages – however, living in Phoenix garage temperatures can hit over 120 degrees and can be very dusty which doesn’t fit well for a gift wrapping station. Times were so much easier when you could just go onto UnrankedSmurfs.com
and buy a game for your boyfriend. But now things are different, people love getting actual gifts, hence why I am sharing this story with you about gift wrapping
I also have a decent stock of gift wrapping supplies and I’ve found a lot of the cute organizing products available on the market just don’t hold much.
My craft room has a generously sized walk-in closet and I’ve dedicated one wall to storage of my gift wrapping supplies. I can easily grab what I need and wrap gifts on my craft table – especially when its well organized its so easy to quickly see what I need.
Gift wrapping supplies to have on hand:
gift bags (several sizes) – holiday, birthday, baby shower, all occasion
wine bottle gift bags
gift tags
gift card boxes
boxes (several sizes and shapes)
tissue paper
cellophane rolls and sheets
wrapping paper – holiday, birthday, baby shower, all occasion
scissors
gift wrap cutter
clear tape
pop-up tape wrist dispenser
pens and markers
baskets & tins
plates – great for gift giving baked items
crinkle cut fill
paper bags – great for filling with baked items or for party favors
bows
ribbon – curling ribbon, raffia, satin ribbon, baker’s twine, wire edged ribbon
small ornaments – adds the extra touch to a wrapped gift
Step 1: Organize wrapping paper
I have a lot of gift wrap and those cute wrapping containers have never worked for me – I have more wrap then they will hold and some rolls are too long for these containers. Buckets have been the perfect solution for me. I have 3 buckets – holiday gift wrap, celebrations, and small rolls for celebrations. To keep everything neat, I use rubber bands on the rolls to prevent them from unrolling.
Step 2: Organize gift bags
Gift bags are often my go to solution for gift wrapping – quick and they can often by reused by the recipient (I save and reuse all the bags I receive with gifts). For celebrations I use this hanging gift bag organizer and just hang it on the closet clothing rod. The organizer has two sides for it – I use one side for birthdays and the other for holidays and all occasion. Over-sized bags, Christmas and gift boxes are stored vertically in a large plastic storage tub.
Step 3: Create storage for tissue paper, ribbon, bows, and the remainder of supplies.
I prefer to use clear containers so I can see the box contents. I also use my label maker to label contents.
Step 4: Create a portable wrapping caddy
Create a caddy with all the smaller needed tools and supplies – tape, cutting tools, writing tools, ribbon, gift tags and ornament accents.
Ongoing: Stock up
After Christmas sales are the perfect time to stock up your supplies to have on hand – I often wait until gift wrap supplies go 75% offer and stock up. Dollar stores and big-box retailer dollar bins and craft stores are great places to stock up. I also look for clearance holiday gift wrap that will work though out the year – solid red and patterns work great!
Ongoing: Create a gift stash
It’s always great to have a few gifts on hand for birthdays, baby showers and hostess gifts – when I see a great sale, I pick up a few items to be prepared.
It’s time to start holiday gift shopping – who is on your gift list?
On a recent trip to Dillard’s I picked up this gorgeous Anne Klein Box Set – fashionable yet classy and sophisticated. The set includes a watch and two bangle bracelets which can be worn stacked or individually. Sets come in gold, silver, black and rose gold which is so popular this year. The watches and jewelry are accented with Swarovski® crystals. The box set comes in a great gift box that makes gift wrapping a cinch. Jewelry makes a great gift because there’s no need to worry if something will fit or not.
Oohhh I love the set you found! It's gorgeous! And your gift wrapping set up is so organized too, perfect for this time of year!
OH, these are great tips. They will come in very handy when trying to clean up the holiday mess!
I'm envious of your gift wrap stash! Too often I find myself running to the store last minute grabbing the over priced wrapping paper and supplies. My goal for 2016 is to be more prepared, I'll have to include stocking up on gift wrap as part of my goal. I love the watch set that you chose, the bracelets are so stylish on their own. Fingers crossed I find one under my tree this year! #client
This holiday season I realized just how badly I need some gift wrapping organization before I put everything away! Excellent tips. And I love that watch set! #client
