Baseball Themed Fruit Kabobs – Healthier Sports Snacks

By: Dana Michele

baseball fruit kabob

My son’s first baseball game of the Fall season was this Saturday which also means time for game snacks. Post-game snacks are a big deal to the kids.

I feel it’s really important to make theses snacks healthy because they’re kids and we’re training them to be athletes. Now I’m all for sweets as I do own a sweet shop but I believe in moderation and that we must fill our bodies with healthy food before we enjoy our sweets. So how to make something healthy but still fun?

So how to make something HEALTHY but still FUN?

I made rainbow colored fruit kabobs with grapes, blueberries, mango, oranges, and strawberries. To add something fun and themed I used a red edible marker (Americolor brand is the best)  to make a marshmallow look like a baseball. Big hit with the kids (and moms).

I usually make the kabobs the night before. I decorate the marshmallows and store in a sealed bag overnight and add to the skewers right before the games so they don’t get soggy from juices from the fruits.

Rainbow Fruits:

Red – strawberries, watermelon
Orange – oranges, mandarin oranges (canned), cantaloupe
Yellow – mango, pineapple
Green – green grapes, honeydew melon
Blue – blueberries
Purple – grapes
