As a sweet shoppe business owner its hard to get away for weekend trips – because our speciality is parties, most of our business is on the weekends. Holiday weekends are often quieter for us because there aren’t as many birthday parties and showers. We could tell Sunday was going to be quiet so we decided this would be the perfect chance for a weekend getaway for the 3 day weekend. We wanted somewhere in the mountains and first tried to book a camp site – no luck because it was a holiday weekend. So we opted for a cabin getway instead – had some trouble because most places had a 3 day minimum but I had to work Saturday morning. We successfully found a cabin available at Whispering Pines in Pinetop, AZ – we have previously stayed at this cabin resort when we first moved back west before our son and even before we were engaged.
Weekend highlights according to sweetshoppeboy:
- pinecone hunting
- rock throwing (rock skipping)
- jacuzzi tub in the cabin
Weather was great – nice and cool, chilly at night. But so windy – love the sounds of the ‘whispering’ pines but too windy to fish until our last day.
I must say I am totally jealous of the Jacuzzi tub. Sounds like a great getaway.
