Amazon is one of the most popular shopping sites. But is it worth it? and how can you save money shopping on Amazon.com?
6 Ways to save money with Amazon
One – Shop the Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday sales. Amazon Prime Day (July 11th & 12th for 2023) and Black Friday are yearly events are a great way to snag some great deals. Some items will be on sale as a Lightning Deal – these are sale prices that are only available for a few hours and may end earlier if they sell out. For any sale price it best to check out right away and not leave items in your cart until the end of the sale – many sale prices end early once they sell out (and some items are only on sale for 1 of the 2-day sale).

Two – Subscribe and Save. For items that you use regularly consider subscribing to Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program. When you subscribe for a specific item you select how often you wish to have the item shipping to you, anywhere from every 1 month to 6 months. Also, don’t worry Amazon notifies you a few days ahead so you can adjust your shipments as needed and its very easy to cancel an item. When you subscribe, you receive a discount and when you have 5 or more items shipping in a month you receive higher discount (discounts rage 5-15% depending on item).
Subscribe & Save is a great option for paper goods, household cleaning supplies, skincare and supplements.
Three – Amazon Warehouse. Looking for a really great deal? Always check to see if an item you’re interested in is available in the Amazon Warehouse. Warehouse items are those that have packaging damage, minor cosmetic damage, or items that have been returned. Items are in working condition and have the same FREE shipping and FREE returns as regular Amazon items. You can find warehouse items in the ‘used’ listing for a product listing or by searching the Amazon Warehouse.
Four – Compare pricing both on Amazon and off. It’s a simple thing but an important reminder and easier than ever since you can compare prices anywhere with your phone. Some items on Amazon will be priced much better than a big box or grocery store. But also sometimes, the price on Amazon the price is inflated (especially when an item is in lower supply or available more as a convenience to have it shipped). Also prices on Amazon fluctuate and its helpful when you know your prices.
Not only should you compare prices on and off Amazon, but you should compare prices for different Amazon sellers. Sometimes an item will be listed by several different Amazon sellers as separate listings.
Insider Tip – A little trick is to put items in your cart but don’t check out. When you log on to Amazon go to your cart and Amazon will tell you if the price has decreased or increased. If its decreased to a great price, now is the time to snag it and checkout.
Insider Tip – Another tip is to use sites like CamelCamelCamel which can show you the Amazon price history so you can decide if you purchase it now or wait.
