I LOVE DIYing and crafting and creating home decor projects for my home is the perfect combination of the two. They’re all pretty simple and inexpensive once you invested in a Silhouette. I have a Silhouette Cameo, an older model that I’ve had for over 5 years and it still works great. I am eyeing the newer Silhouette Curio because of all it can do including embossing and etching or the Silhouette Cameo 3.
I’ve had many people tell me my house looks like a Pinterest house, ha. I think that’s a compliment.
These are all relatively simple and make use of fonts that I already have on my computer. The Silhouette store has a huge catalog of design images that can be purchased but none of these projects were created from purchased files. I’m not going to go into DIY instructions because these are all basic – design in your Silhouette software, cut the vinyl, apply transfer tape and apply to the surface. Two projects are done with paint where I created a stencil with vinyl, painted the wood and then removed the vinyl. There are lots of tutorial blog posts and YouTube videos available if you’re new to this. One blog I recommend is Simply Sarah.
Flour and Sugar Jars
I love having these out on the counter for ease of use. The glass jars are great because they’re inexpensive and it’s easy for me to see when we’re running low. After the holidays I can see I need to stock up on more flour and powdered sugar – all the holiday baking!
Cooking Tools Crocks
I store all my wooden spoons, whisks, and spatulas in white ceramic crocks. I added numbers to each crock, each in a different font.
Spice Wall Pantry Decor
I store my spices on a wall of my pantry. I have a few spice racks and added this fun quote to the wall.
Pantry Chalk Board Sign
A few years ago we replaced our pantry door with a flat door and painted it with chalkboard paint – I LOVE it. We use it to write messages to each other or to make lists like summer bucket lists. I added the word pantry in vinyl to the top – much neater than I could ever write in chalk.
Bathroom Sign
I find this one fun. I cut out the man and woman symbols and added them to our main floor bathroom door so guests will have no problem finding the bathroom. Can’t remember where I found the cut file.
BAR sign
This was a fun project I made with a scrap piece of wood to hang over my home bar. I use some gel stain and cut out the BAR stencil with vinyl. I painted it white and then distressed it.
Arizona Home sign
I made this sign at a local blogger craft night. Simply a stencil cut out of vinyl and painted.
