St. Patrick’s Day Home Tour

By: Dana Michele

Do you decorate for St. Patrick’s Day? I do, but just a few accents around the home.

In March, I pull out the spring decor, St. Patrick’s Day, and anything green. With Christmas and Valentine’s Day over, I pack away the reds. Some of this will stay out until summer.

I like to do simple things like swap out candles (green for red), change ribbons on my wreaths, and change the filler for apothecary jars and bowls.

St, Patrick’s Day Mantel

Mantel is pretty simple with my Boxwood Wreath that I love (Target a few years ago).

Apothecary jar filled with sparkly shamrocks and Leprechaun hats (Hobby Lobby).

The Lucky banner I picked up at Hobby Lobby a few years ago.

The vases and frame I crafted myself – super easy.

The vase is a quick an easy and inexpensive project. Makes a great centerpiece too.

St. Patrick’s Day Gold and Green Floral Decor

supplies needed:

  • canning jar
  • gold metallic spray paint or craft paint
  • white and green Gerber daisies (craft store)

Instructions:

  1. Paint the inside of the jar gold, let dry
  2. Trim the stems of the flowers so that they are at the correct height for the jar. You may need to use wire cutters to cut off the excess stems.
  3. Optional – add festival ribbon to the neck of the jar

Shamrock Art DIY Project

Materials needed:

  • white cardstock
  • green cardstock
  • frame (that holds a 8×10)
  • adhesive foam squares
  • Tool to cut shamrocks – Cutting machine (Cricut or Silhouette), Die-cut machine, or punch.

Instructions:

  • Cut 9 shamrocks from the cardstock
  • Apply foam adhesive squares to each shamrock
  • Insert the white cardstock on the frame. Remove the glass from the frame.
  • Attach the shamrocks to the cardstock. The adhesive foam squares give a 3 dimensional look to the art.

I added a few more accents around the house. My son loves the Leprechaun hat (Hobby Lobby).

St. Patrick’s Day Patio Decor

A few touches on the patio. The St. Patrick’s Day wreath was crafted a few years ago. Plus a cluster of wood shamrocks to hang from my patio light (I believe I found these at Home Goods a few years ago).

What’s next? Easter. One of the holidays I go all out for.
