It’s October, have you decorated for Halloween yet? I love decorating for Halloween and count down the days until I can pull out the decorations – I make myself wait until October 1st. With such a long stretch of no holidays through the summer, its fun to make the house festive again. And I just love orange and black – the colors just pop.
I often pull out the fall decorations in September and those stay up through the end of November but Halloween is just for October. So come November 1st, anything with a face (as in jack-o-lantern) goes away. My main focus is my family room mantel, kitchen table and a few scattered around the house. I’ve cut way back from previous years.
I made the wreath a few years ago by wrapping a styrofoam wreath with purple yarn – love the look but it is very time-consuming. The crow wood cutout was purchased online and I painted it black and glittered it. Added a bow and ribbon to hang, and complete.
The banners are all from Target dollar spots. The burlap banner was purchased last year and the two pom-pom banners are new this year.
I made the wooden signs last year. Found some pieces of wood in the garage, painted and cut some vinyl on my Silhouette for the 31 and skull.
This cute pumpkin head sits at my bar. I found him several years ago at HomeGoods, my FAVORITE source for home decorations.
I’m a huge fan of Department 56 villages, especially for Christmas. My Halloween collection is a bit smaller but I love it especially because of the light and sound effects.
I made these BOO blocks are few years. We cut some wood blocks from planks, painted black, added scrapbook paper, black vinyl letters, inked the edges and the craft spider.
