Holiday Family Movie Night Snack Buffet { tutorial + tip }

By: Dana Michele

Elf Holiday Movie Night Snacks

Every year we host a family and friends Holiday Movie Night. One of our favorite holiday movies is Elf – a great movie for both kids and adults. I love to create a festive snack table with popcorn and sweets and it’s always a hit.

Pick a color scheme – I decided on traditional red and green since it was the best fit for the movie we selected.

Purchase your favorite movie theater candies – a mix of chocolate and candies are great.

Purchase or pop your own popcorn – I like to purchase popcorn for parties so you don’t have to spend the extra time popping it and it doesn’t make your house smell like popcorn.

Supplies needed for Holiday Movie Night Snack Buffet

  • bowls
  • platters, trays, and tin buckets
  • scoops
  • colorful paper lunch bags
  • disposable ice cream cups
  • scrapbook paper
  • paper punch
  • mini clothespins
  • ribbon
  • paper cutter or scissors
  • stamping ink

Trim scrapbook paper – Cut the paper so that it fits on your trays or platters. This is a great way to add extra color and pattern to your snack table

Cut paper lunch bags down – use scissors or paper cutter to cut a few inches off the top of the bags to create popcorn bags

Tie ribbon around scoop handles – tie a festive ribbon around the handles of the scoops for extra color and pattern.

Rubber Stamp Ice Cream Bowls – use festive rubber stamps to decorate the ice cream bowls. Its a great way to customize plain white disposable dishes for any party.

Create food labels – Type and print the names of the sweets. Print on coordinating cardstock. Use a paper punch to cut out. Attach to bowls with mini clothespins.

Set everything up and enjoy your party

Entertaining Tip My best entertaining tip is to make one part of your party extra special and keep everything else simple. This includes the rest of the party, the party prep, and everything else going on the day of your event. This helps you as the host to enjoy your time with your guests and that’s really what holiday entertaining is all about.

When hosting a party I like to keep dinner the day of the party very simple. Walmart’s deli has several great options for a quick and easy dinner – rotisserie chickens, hot wings, ribs, pizza, and more. The deli also has some great side dishes including potato salad and a delicious looking kale salad.
