I’ve been dairy free for over three years now. I use store bought almond milk as a dairy substitute in many recipes but haven’t cared for the taste of drinking it plain. Recently I tried making my almond milk and I’m hooked – its so delicious. By making it yourself you can control the ingredients you use and tweak the flavor for your taste. I discovered a product call a nut milk bag, and it makes the process so easy.
Almond Milk
1 cup raw almonds
3 cups water
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
pinch cinnamon
additional water for soaking the almonds
Step 1: Soak the almonds over night in water (almonds should be covered)
Step 2: Rinse the almonds
Step 3: Add the almonds to the blender. Add water and blend on high speed
Step 4: Pour contents of blender into the nut milk bag over a large measuring cup or mixing bowl. Rinse blender. Squeeze nut bag to get all the liquid out. Discard contents of bag or save to use for another use.
Step 4: Add the strained almond milk to blender with honey, salt, vanilla and cinnamon
Step 5: Blend on medium speed
Step 6: Pour into a pitcher and store in fridge. Enjoy!
Chocolate Almond Milk – I like to take half the batch and add chocolate syrup. My favorite dairy free syrup is Ahlaska Chocolate Syrup.
Disclosure – I received the nut milk bag at a discount in exchange for an unbiased Amazon review. I was not asked to blog about it and all opinions are my own. Some links on this page may be affiliate links which help to support this blog.
