I’m a mom. Newly single. 45. Active and healthy. Feeling younger than I’ve ever before.
I’m a mom to a 10 year old boy. A very very active boy. He’s been playing baseball since he was 4. One year a teacher gave him the “Energizer Bunny Award” because he keeps going and going… He loves nature especially hunting for rocks and other natural treasures. One of our favorite adventures together is to hike. Sometimes we hike the trails in our neighborhood. Other times we head out of town for a new adventure.
This past weekend we headed up north for a few days to Flagstaff, AZ. Loved the cold air.
We checked into our cabin and then we were off. Exploring the woods. Up and down hiking trails. Off the trails. Over logs. Climbing through rock piles. Breathing fresh air. Bonding with my son. Feeling energized. So AWESOME.
I LOVE being able to keep up with my son. I had my son in my mid-30s, later than some of my mom friends, but I don’t want that ever to be the reason I can’t keep up. I love our time together. Our adventures and memories made.
I love to hike. I also run, do yoga and just recently added weight lifting to my routine.
Besides keeping up with my son, exercise makes me feel good about myself, energized and strong. It’s also amazing how it keeps me mentally healthy too. Being self-employed and a single mom, I have a lot of stress. We all do. So much going on. Exercise is the best way to clear my head. Helps me to focus. Especially when I can get outside and breath in the fresh air.
At times my joints may hurt. Unfortunately happens more often than it used to. But I won’t let anything hold me back. I also have a family history of hip replacements.
